Victoria Folk Music Society weekly gathering: Everyone—welcome Jam at 6:45pm, Open Stage at 7:30pm, Feature Performers Hill 60 at 9:00pm; Friendship Hall (formerly Norway House) 1110 Hillside Avenue, $8 cash at the door
Weaving together styles of country and bluegrass with a lifetime of musical influences, Hill 60 is a Cowichan-based acoustic gathering of friends. Harmony singers Heather and Shannon add their gorgeous voices to Eric's guitar work, Angela celebrates the low end on bass, while Andy and his mandolin cover the tunes with a delicious sparkle!
Inspired by traditional music and the takes of modern artists in Americana, the band also forges their own path, mixing straightforward country/bluegrass tunes with all the sass required to make them pure Hill 60. Heartaches find humour, love can be fun, and life itself is a song!
The emotional and musical interplay between the members is a joy to hear and see. Hill 60’s goal is to entertain and clearly they have a ton of fun doing it!
