Event Description

Explore the journeys of women in adventure sports from around the world at the Canadian premiere of this inspiring new documentary, Flow: Voices from Rivers, Rock, and Sky!

Produced by local filmmaker Grace Gorman alongside Denisa Krásná and Alena Rainsberry, Flow is a feature-length documentary that follows four women from around the world as they pursue adventure sports such as whitewater kayaking, climbing, mountaineering, and highlining. The film explores their unique personal journeys—offering intimate insight into how they navigate challenges connected to gender, race, age, class, and sexual identity in their sports. Stunning scenes in India, Ecuador, Canada, and the Czech Republic provide a powerful backdrop for important conversations around transcultural feminism and lived experiences of women in the outdoors; especially from underrepresented backgrounds.

For this special screening, Flow’s creators Denisa Krásná, Alena Rainsberry and Grace Gorman will be presenting their film together in person for the very first time!

Copies of their book, Flow: Women’s Counternarratives from Rivers, Rock, and Sky, will be available for purchase on site from local publisher Rocky Mountain Books. Guests will have the opportunity to meet Denisa and Alena and have their books signed.
