Victoria Folk Music Society weekly gathering: Everyone—welcome Jam at 6:45pm, Open Stage at 7:30pm, Feature Performers Sharon Bailey with Tyler Lieb at 9:00pm; Friendship Hall (formerly Norway House) 1110 Hillside Avenue, $8 cash at the door

Sharon Bailey grew up in Vancouver BC and has spent more than twenty years making Salt Spring Island her creative home. Her songs sit at the crossroads of country folk and swampy blues, using plainspoken storytelling and textured arrangements to explore contemporary issues filtered through a working‑class upbringing and a life remade on Canada's west coast. Her recordings have earned airplay on independent radio in Canada, the United States, and Europe, while her live shows balance upbeat musical fun with darker, more contemplative moments. Sharon’s most recent album, Turn This Thing Around, highlights her distinctive voice across a set of strong, original songs. She is joined tonight by Tyler Lieb, steel guitar player extraordinaire!
