Event Description
Thursday, April 27th ROCK-IT CARGO presents The No No Spots, Elizabeth, The Machines, The Outfit + Orchards & Vines @ The MEDIA CLUB, 695 Cambie . Doors 8pm, Show 8:30pm / $10 at the door ~ NMW wristbands get you in for free!
THE NO NO SPOTS are making a big splash in the local scene, earning themselves much-coveted supporting spots with The Killers and Tegan & Sara. Caustic, sexy and naughty songs from a girl-driven band with an '80s-flavoured style that's been favourably compared to PJ Harvey and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. (11:45pm) http://www.nonospots.com
ELIZABETH - Following in the steps of bands like Joy Division and Interpol, Elizabeth's fevered, intense, raw and emotional live shows have already garnered the band stage space with bands like Franz Ferdinand, The Organ, TV On The Radio & The Libertines. (11pm) http://www.elizabethelizabeth.ca
The MACHINES - Born from the ashes of The Candidates (an Ontario band that played with many top rock acts including The Walkmen, The Illuminati, Death From Above 1979 and Brian Jonestown Massacre), The Machines' arsenal of catchy, energetic new material and shared love of rock 'n' roll from garage to power-pop promises to excite and enslave audiences from coast to coast! (10pm) http://www.myspace.com/themachines
The OUTFIT's frenzied, polyrhythmic rock sound is memorable and exciting: clever pop songwriting flavored by layers of instrumental melodies and backed by inventive, danceable rhythms. They've earned a dedicated following in Toronto by playing consistently fun and frantic live shows, including a recent opening spot for The Killers. (9:15pm) http://www.myspace.com/theoutfitlivE
ORCHARDS & VINES reveal a rich, dark musical territory of compelling songs and lyrics, with powerful, dynamic female vocals fronting raw, intense guitars and drums. Their explosive modern sound invokes the incendiary vibe of artists like Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley and Nirvana. (8:30pm) http://www.ovweb.com
