Event Description

DUE TO OVERWHELMING DEMAND –

A SECOND DEFAULT SHOW HAS BEEN ADDED!!

Default is still a young band, and one with a million-plus in record sales, several massive rock radio hits (“Wasting My Time”, “Deny”, “Taking My Life Away”), a bunch of late-night-TV show appearances and more than a few sold-out tours under its belt. And yet, with their latest, One Thing Remains, the band knew it was time for a change.

The angst-ridden vocals, the heavy guitar hooks, the radio-ready melodies that introduced the Vancouver group on 2001’s The Fallout, are all still in place—this time, more so than ever. For One Thing Remains, the band spent a full year writing songs, collaborating with Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger (who has the honour of being able to boast that he discovered Default) and Marti Fredrickson (who has worked with Aerosmith). For a producer, Default chose Bob Marlette, whose credits include everyone from Tracy Chapman to Black Sabbath. The album’s two standout tracks showcase the band’s increased depth and range: “Count on Me,” the first single (co-written by Kroeger), is an upbeat, anthemic track that’s already hit it big on rock radio even before the song’s official release. The opening track “All is Forgiven,” meanwhile, is the record’s most radical departure, a lush, mid-tempo rocker with a shimmery guitar sound that recalls U2. Along with more standard yet still rocking Default fare like “The Way We Were,” these tracks help make for Default’s best album yet, a statement from a band that hasn’t lost sight of its strengths and continues to improve with every album and every show.

Oliver Black have come out of Welland, Ontario, to save rock ‘n’ roll. After adopting Austin as their home-away-from-home, the female-fronted quartet have attracted people like Guns 'n' Roses icon Gilby Clarke and Whiskeytown's Mike Daly to contribute to their upcoming album. Some of the finest rock and roll producers in the world were enlisted as well, including Michael Beinhorn (Soundgarden, Hole), Gggarth Richardson (Rage Against the Machine, Trapt) and mega-producer Daniel Lanois (U2).

Oliver Black, whose sensational live show has been honed by touring with bands like Queens of the Stone Age, Silvertide, Saliva and Kenny Wayne Shepherd, are getting set to hit the road with Default for a cross Canada tour, before heading back to the US.
