Event Description
Jeremy Price (Flute) | Attila Fias (Piano) | Louis Rudner (Bass) | Richard Brisco (Drums)
Jeremy Price is a jazz flute specialist and journeyman whose serious jazz education/induction is attributed to Victoria B.C.'s own Hugh Fraser. Hugh not only accepted Jeremy into the 1997 Banff Jazz Orchestra, but also an invitation to perfrorm at Hermanns for the Victoria Jazz Orchestra Workshop 1999 edition with guest artist Phil Nimmons. Through Hugh's mentorship, Jeremy was able to study and perform with the late great flutist Paul Horn in 2005 at the Victoria Conservatory Jazz Orchestra Workshop. Jeremy performance history at Hermanns includes the period 2007-2018 at Hermanns on occasions with NYC based (Cellar Live Recording Artist) harmonica/vibraphone virtuoso Hendrik Meurkens in a band including a couple of guys named Attila Fias and Richard Brisco. In the 2020's, Jeremy's appearances at Hermann's have included Louis Rudner, a first call artist well known to Victoria Jazz lovers. Jeremy has shared the stage previously with such international artists as Kenny Wheeler, Maria Schnieder, Chucho Valdes, and more recently with Canadian iconsTerry Clarke and Bill McBirnie, who toured parts of Canada with Jeremy in 2023 under their Festival Friendly Horace Silver Flutes project
For this show, Jazz Flute Reimagined will offer a little something to every listener, touching on the various jazz styles and grooves where the flute has historical precedent. Expect bossa nova, Afro Cuban and straight ahead jazz flute flavours.
