Event Description

Experimental rock trio Yoo Doo Right (Montréal, CA) wed noisy, melodic guitar parts, effects-laden synthesizer soundscapes, deep bass grooves and patented percussive furies into sprawling, cathartic musical pieces. Drawing inspiration from post-rock, krautrock, shoegaze, classical music, electroacoustics, and musique concrète, they create a unique sound where "towering monoliths of roaring riffs crash against swarms of restless rhythms" (Pop Matters). Since 2016, they have released two full-lengths (Don't Think You Can Escape Your Purpose, A Murmur, Boundless to the East), three EPs (Nobody Panicked and Everybody Got On, EP2, The Sacred Fuck EP), and a few singles, including a 7" split with Acid Mothers Temple, whilst touring extensively in Canada, the United and Europe. Along the way, they have performed at notorious events such as SXSW, Levitation, Dunk! Fest, Sled Island, Treefort Music Fest, and M for Montreal, also opening for the likes of Acid Mothers Temple, DIIV, A Place to Bury Strangers, Wooden Shjips, Kikagaku Moyo, FACS, and Jessica. Scheduled for November 8th, 2024
via Mothland, From the Heights of Our Pastureland is yet another solemn if defiant entry in Yoo Doo Right's rich music catalogue, an honest and patient sonic poem about the destructive process of unbridled expansion in the name of
"progress", the inevitable collapse and what it means to rebuild.

Toronto-based band Strip Lacquer are the city's latest post punk export. Drawing from art rock experimentation, industrial abrasiveness, and post-punk ethos - Strip Lacquer is an outfit that encompasses sharp emotional songwriting with nuanced dissonance and a diverse sonic palette.

Local DJ Dioscuri playing pre and post show heavy hitters so don't be late!

Some notes on health, safety, accessibility and community:

We live in the era of Covid and many other highly contagious illnesses. Masks will be available at all Many Moons Events. Attendees are encouraged to use them and to always stay home if they are feeling sick.

Earplugs will also be available at all events for those who want a little extra hearing protection.

First aid and naloxone kits are on site and can be accessed by speaking to an event organizer or performer at any event.

If you require an accessible entrance or other accommodations when attending a Many Moons Event please reach out. Though all of our events take place in accessible buildings, the accessible entrances are not always the same as the main door entry points. This is the case at our studio at 12 Cataraqui St, Studio one.

If you are made to feel unsafe at a Many Moons Event, please speak to an event organizer or performer so that we can help you. Many Moons seeks to provide spaces for celebratory gathering that are safe for all attendees. Finding best practices to do so is an ongoing process. Racism, homophobia, transphobia, and sexism will not be tolerated at events. Acts of violence, abuse or harassment of any verbal, physical, sexual or other nature will not be tolerated at events.

We need to charge a cover at events to pay for operating costs and to pay artists. Any support you can provide is always so incredibly appreciated. Many of our events operate on a flexibile "pay what you can" model. For ticketed events, you can always contact us if you'd like to attend but cannot purchase an advanced ticket. We're always looking for volunteers. While spaces are available at Many Moons Events, nobody will ever be turned away for lack of funds.
