A Miss Emily Christmas is one that combines traditional ideas like sleigh rides and candy-canes with old-school soul music and glittery pink accents. It’s a diverse and welcoming celebration that will have you up on your feet, singing along and sharing the best that the season has to offer.
Throughout Emily Fennell’s more than 20 years as a singer, songwriter and performer, the Christmas season has been a time that unites many of her favourite themes. Community, generational love, family, and the idea that, during the darkest month of the year, we’re at our best as a society; they’re all a part of any Miss Emily Christmas show.
"I'm a Christmas fanatic but I love tradition with a twist,” says the Juno nominee. “My seasonal home decor has recently transformed from reds and golds to sparkly pink.”
Along with belting out holiday standards and decorating the house, Miss Emily truly loves the idea that, at this time of year more than any other, we take the opportunity to celebrate with those we care about.
“We take more time to slow down and be reflective,” she says. “It's this lovely time of year that blends hibernation with celebration and I love all of it. I was raised in church and although the religious roots aren't lost on me, I love how the holiday has evolved to include a more diverse group of people in awarm and spiritual way."
Thanks in part to our friends at The Spire, there are a number of charitable organizations that will be represented on this special evening and we are thrilled to be spreading the love in the best way we know how - through music and community. If you have an organization you'd like to have involved, please email: [email protected]
