After 26 years the annual Limestone Blues Festival in Kingston, Ontario has come to an end this year.
The Kingston Blues Society has decided to present a "Tribute to the Limestone Blues Festival" to be held on August 22-24th. The outdoor shows are free, and the ticketed events are at the long-time home of the Kingston Blues Society; the R.C.H.A Club.
THURSDAY: The Tribute starts with a bang at the R.C.H.A Club at 7 pm; opening with George Kilby Jr., three other acts follow ending at 11 pm, including a one-time-only reunion of Mojo Shooter: the KBS house band for 10 years. Advance tickets for Thursday are $15 each.
FRIDAY: There will be a free show at 7 pm in the beautiful downtown Market Square featuring Kingston's vocal dynamo, Miss Emily. That evening, the R.C.H.A. Club is featuring 3 bands beginning at 4:00pm with their weekly TGIF show with the Marion Drexler Band. This will be followed by local favorites Big Mo and the Blues Mission. From 9-11 pm, American-born blues boogie-woogie piano man, Kenny "Blues Boss" Wayne is the headliner. Advance tickets for Friday are $25 each.
SATURDAY: There will be a full day schedule beginning at noon until 6 pm, all free at the lovely Confederation Park stage which looks directly out onto the waterfront. Artists include Hellhound Trail and Sweet Pete and the Heat. Saturday night at the R.C.H.A. club is a double-headed winner with Spencer McKenzie playing from 7-8:30 pm and JW Jones closing the celebration from 9-11 pm. Advance tickets for Saturday are $35 each.
