Event Description
A marvel of slapstick invention and pure unbridled creativity. The brainchild of director Mike Cheslik and star Ryland Brickson Cole Tews, this madcap indie is a live-action homage to the golden age of animation, blending myriad inspirations to beget something at once throwback familiar and amusingly novel. Hundreds of Beavers begins with Jean Kayak (Tews) in the throes of inebriated merriment around his Applejack distillery. Disaster strikes: resulting in an explosion that leaves his boozy enterprise in flames. Jean wakes in the snow with nothing. In the wintery forest, he sets about trying to survive by laying traps for some of the area’s many bunnies. Jean quickly learns that ensnaring these animals is harder than it appears, and that’s similarly true for the region’s beavers, who are often seen traipsing through the woods carrying logs to the enormous dam they’re building. A gonzo indie that marches to the beat of its own hyperactive drum…There’s no way not to be impressed—if not outright awed—by its inexhaustible imagination.–The Daily Beast
