Hank Cramer, one of the Pacific Northwest’s most popular folksingers, is known for his resonant bass voice, smooth picking on a flat-top guitar, and wry sense of humour! He’s well known in maritime circles as the “shantyman” from the tall ship Lady Washington, but his repertoire also covers a broad spectrum of celtic ballads and cowboy songs, too.
Hank has recorded twenty-four CD’s in his career, both as a solo artist and as a member of folk groups such as The Rounders, The Cutters, The Ferryboat Musicians, and Constellation’s Crew. He has performed regularly on Vancouver Island since 1992, playing at Tall Ships Victoria, the Saltwater Festival, the Maritime Museum of British Columbia, and at every folk club from Victoria to Lantzville!
Faith Petric, long-term leader of the San Francisco folk community, described Hank this way: “He made me laugh, and he made me cry. And that’s what good music is all about”
