Victoria Folk Music Society weekly gathering, Open Stage 7:30pm, Feature Performers Bijoux du Bayou at 9pm, 1110 Hillside Avenue, $8 cash at the door, Everyone welcome!
Now going on 26 years old, Bijoux could credit their longevity to a strong initial mission of bringing Cajun, Zydeco, and New Orleans music to our area, but over the years that mission has expanded to include many more styles (TexMex · Canadiana · Latin · Reggae, etc.) which also honour the ‘good times’ of the band's origins. New instruments, new members, new songs all keep it interesting, fun, and uniquely memorable!
Over the years, the Victoria Folk Music Society has enjoyed Sam Torrance’s many 10-minute solo sets on our open stage as well as the band's ten feature performances starting with their first in 2001. Along the way, Bijoux du Bayou's roster has included Sam with Mike Regimbal, Will Winter, Robert Cromwell, Rod Grey, Roger Plant, and Wayne Briscoe, and our March 13, 2014 feature was “Bijoux du Bayou with Mike Raymer & Joy Kruger”! Be sure to come on out this Sunday night for Bijoux’s Feature #11 and join in some big fun with the Jewels of the Swamp themselves! In a word, Bijoux du Bayou is GREAT!!
