Event Description

A multi-sensory celebration of a sustainable future.

The Cloud 9 Electronic Music & Eco-Art Festival will exhibit the visual works of 9 artists who have installed land-based, conceptual art throughout our 40-acre property, which will work harmoniously with the ambient electronic sound that will be featured by our 9 young, up and coming musical performers. This one-day, outdoor festival will also feature a variety of local food, drink and small sustainable business vendors. Given the detriment of this covid-19 pandemic, we are committed to supporting local businesses as well as young Canadian artists.

Advance tickets are $75 each and available to purchase online from Ticketailor here.

Music

You arrive to the sounds of nature and ambient electronic music from eight young up-and-coming Canadian musicians. The electronic performances will feature both live instrumental and DJ sets and contain musical influences from ambient, pop, tribal, house, and techno by artists including:

Food & Drink

Local food and drink vendors provide a multitude of options, including a Cloud 9 beer, brewed by MacKinnon Brothers Brewing Company. Local vendors will have jewelry, apparel, crafts and sustainable products for sale throughout the festival.

Eco-Art

Eco-Art is a contemporary form of environmental art created by artists concerned about local and global environmental issues. No.9 Gardens commissioned eight globally renowned Canadian artists to create Eco-Art installations along our winding forest trails.

A fundraiser for No.9 Gardens

Launched in the fall of 2018, in partnership with Dunin-Deshpande Queen’s Innovation Centre, No.9 Gardens is a hands-on teaching facility created to empower youth to lead a revolution in building resilient communities.

No.9 Gardens, the venue for this event, was created two years ago as a space for the next generation to be fully immersed in the practice and promotion of sustainable living. It has been created to showcase hands-on sustainable living practices that encourage collaboration, resilience, and living in harmony with nature. This includes programming in growing one’s own food, off the grid living, and immersing oneself in nature.

This event is founded and directed by a youth curatorial committee: a group of 12 young students, artists and musicians between the ages of 21 - 25 who feel very passionately about the need to ignite change from the ground up.
As citizens of this younger generation, we have a lot of anxieties and fears about climate change, colonial violence and, of course, this ongoing pandemic. We are channeling our energy into curating this festival because we believe in the power of art and music to inspire social and environmental change. Out of this festival, we hope to foster community and build a youth-led cultural shift in our society.

Shuttle Buses

Limited shuttle bus spots are included in the ticket price! When you click "buy ticket" you will be asked if you would like to reserve shuttle bus spots. When you arrive at the bus, please be ready to show us a piece of ID to be let on. Our buses will leave from the Kingston Memorial Centre parking lot at 10:15 AM. During the day, we will have two buses shuttling back and forth for those who want to leave the festival early or come later in the day. The scheduled arrival times in Kingston and the festival for all buses will be emailed and posted on our website before September 10th. The last Cloud 9 set ends at 1:00 AM. Departing bus doors will be open at 12:30 AM and leave when they are filled.

If you change your mind about either not needing a shuttle bus spot or needing one, please email [email protected] with your first and last name as shown on your government ID. (you can find this email on our website). We will then be able to make your place available for someone else to reserve or put you on the list if we still have spots available.

Parking

Once shuttle bus tickets run out, guests will need to organize their own transportation. There will be on-site parking for $5 cash. Law enforcement will be ticketing and towing any cars within the vicinity not parked in our designated lot.
