Event Description

First live show in two years!

The Astros return to Kingston—with the help of special guests Willy Nilly and Hallowood—to play an electrifying set at The Mansion.

Having been away from the local scene for more than 2 years, the band has been hard at work on their genre-bending sophomore album, and are now ready to get back to their unapologetically bombastic live shows.

Admission is free, with an optional pay what you can system. 19+

About The Astros

Listening to The Astros is like taking a trip through a black hole. A combination of cosmic guitar sounds and songwriting, but in truth, even scientists don’t understand how they work.

Based out of Kingston, Ontario, their interdimensional collection of tunes features a unique fusion of vintage groovy rock, with modern indie pop. This odd pairing comes together seamlessly during their unapologetically wild live performances. The Astros are like driving an old muscle car that’s way too loud with its wheels falling off. But that’s a lot cooler than your mom’s hatchback, isn’t it?

About Willy Nilly

An alt-rock band pulling from contemporary alternative and some early 2010s, Willy Nilly’s influences don’t just end there. Members Owen Fullerton on lead vocals, Max Tinline on lead guitar, Josiah Ascough on bass, and Devin Pierce on drums seemingly find endless opportunities to inject a bit of jazz, classic rock, and folk elements into their music at every turn as well. It’s the balance they strike between punchy carefree tunes and methodical writing that makes this band so original. Max and Josiah are also members of Hinterwood, another great local alt-rock group with a stronger focus on elements of folk.

Willy Nilly’s combination of sounds always seems to invoke a sense of nostalgia and wanderlust. Their live sets are electrifying on the account of each member’s unending commitment to their craft and their passionate musical delivery.

About Hallowood

A hard rocking power trio from Kingston, Ontario, Hallowood promises to put on a show that will get the crowd fired up with original songs written by the talented Patrick Marshall.

With riffs that will get stuck in your head, unbelievable solos, punchy bass lines (Tara Pelow), and hard pounding drums (Joe Pelow), this rock trio gives everything they’ve got and more at every show.
