Event Description
Toronto-based, Juno-nominated singer-songwriter and producer Barbra Lica was named one of Canada's top upcoming female jazz artists and was the first runner-up in the 2013 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Competition. Lica received her first Juno Award nomination in 2017 for I'm Still Learning for “Vocal Jazz Album of the Year”. A seasoned act on the North American club and festival circuits, Barbra has performed everywhere from New York City’s legendary Birdland to Toronto’s prestigious Koerner Hall, and has opened for the likes of Christian McBride, Pat Metheny, Bob Dorough, and Terence Blanchard. With her latest 2022 EP, Imposter Syndrome, Barbra Lica presents her most brutally honest music to date, combining elements of folk, R&B, indie pop, and jazz. With this project, Lica takes listeners on a rollercoaster ride of emotions and soundscapes. Mark Godfrey bass/vocals, Will Fisher drums, Tom Fleming guitar, Joel Visentin keyboards/vocals.
“Lica smiles when she sings. You can hear it. When you see her in concert, you’ll see it too. In a word, refreshing.” – Tim Tamashiro, CBC Radio.
