Event Description

Don Ross returns for his record-breaking 28th Rogue Folk show, and his first since 2017!

Don Ross is one of the most respected musicians in Canada and one of the top guitarists in the world. In 1996, he managed to do what no other player has done - win the prestigious U.S. National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship for the second time (first win was in 1988).

The son of a Scottish immigrant father and a Mi'kmaq Indigenous mother, Don was born and raised in Montreal and has lived in various parts of Canada. Preferring to write original music and develop a personal style, Don's self-taught journey over three decades has encouraged him to follow his musical intuition. The result is an unclassifiable musical style that borrows from jazz, folk, rock and classical.

Pre-pandemic, Don Ross toured extensively, nationally and internationally. Over the pandemic he completed an MA in Orchestration and has been scoring music for video games, TV and film since.

In 2021, Don won the prestigious Walter Carsen Prize for Excellence in the Performing Arts, administered by the Canada Council for the Arts.
