Event Description

SPECIAL EVENT featuring two well-known traditional jazz stars come from away : Jim Armstrong is the original CanUS trumpet, trombone player and lead vocalist as they travelled to jazz festivals across the continent and recorded 8 CD’s before he moved off-island.
And from Vancouver, one of Canada’s top trumpet players, Donnie Clark. Although a graduate of Oak Bay High in Victoria, Donnie’s career in Vancouver was during the days of enormous opportunity for musicians in live theatre shows, nightclubs, jazz festivals, CBC Radio and TV, plus the touring he did with such as The New Orleans Connection and Lance Harrison's Dixieland Band. CanUS is looking forward to this reunion with Donnie as much as the audience will be.

The list of artists that Don Clark has performed and recorded with includes Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Lance Harrison, Fraser McPherson, Bob Hales, Dave Robbins, Pacific Salt, Doug Parker, New Orleans Connection, and the Chicago Six.

Adding our local world-class clarinet/tenor sax player, Al Pease and backed by top tier rhythm section, Joey Smith, bass, Damian Graham, drums and Toni Blodgett, piano makes this a show not to be missed. Advance ticket purchase recommended.
