Event Description
Keeping the New Orleans Traditional Jazz and early Swing flame burning…..while keeping your feet tapping and your soul replenished. These are musicians who share your love of this era of music loved by Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington to name only a few with tunes you will recognize with a rhythm to feel, strong and true. Trumpet played by Alfons Fear is bringing you those loved melodies, with the addition of some vocals , boosted by the Benny Goodman-esque clarinet of Al Pease, also on tenor sax in that beautiful Coleman Hawkins style. Simon Stribling made it back from Australia safe and sound to bring that Aussie joy to his musical trombone, reeds and vocals. Avram McCagherty brings a sparkle to any of the many bands he leads and we get to enjoy him, too. His banjo and vocals are a treasure for our city and then - wait for it…underpinning it all is the one of the best bass players you will find anywhere, Joey Smith along with Laurie Lyster, fabulous on the drums and vocals, too. So to finish and embellish is the early jazz piano style & vocals of Toni Blodgett, leader. I think you will want to be there with us here at Canada’s oldest jazz club and restaurant rated #1 of them all. And the live stream will bring the show to you wherever you are in the world!
If you have family or friends visiting over the holiday, please consider bringing them to Hermann’s for a couple of hours of music fun in Canada’s # 1 Jazz Club. I’ve been there for several shows and the service and the food are very good. It’s not something that is very available anywhere else anymore - a unique experience. .www.hermannsjazz.com will give you all the information you would need to make this visit or even view the show on livestream.
