Event Description

To all attendees,
You may have heard about the announcement of new temporary restrictions in BC. These restrictions order the cancellation/postponement of all events and gatherings until after February 5th, which unfortunately means we'll need to reschedule this event to a TBA date.
We will be emailing ticket holders with this information and will honour your tickets for when the event is rescheduled. If you would like a refund, please email [email protected]
We are always so thankful for your support as ultimately, it’s our community who keeps the Victoria Event Centre thriving. Your support keeps art, entertainment and our core values -ALIVE-. If you wish to support the space and its artists, please donate at https://victoriaeventcentre.ca/donate/ so we can keep contributing to our non-profit community space.

• Originally from Taiwan, Ed Hill is an award winning comic who moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, thinking he was on vacation at his father's discretion. Since then, Ed has performed all over the world. He was voted "Best Vancouver Comedian of 2016" by Vancouver Courier Magazine, and "Best Vancouver Comedian of 2015" by Vancouver Courier Magazine and The Georgia Straight, and named "Comic to Watch" in 2018 by Reader's Digest Magazine and in 2015 by Canadian Immigrant Magazine. He has also appeared on AXS TV's "Gotham Comedy Live", "Laughs" on FOX, TED talks, Bite TV’s “Stand up & Bite Me”, and XM Radio’s “Laugh Attack”. He was also invited to perform at the Just For Laughs Northwest Comedy Festival, Comedy Masala in Singapore, Live Comedy Club in Taiwan, the Hong Kong Comedy Festival, NXNE, San Francisco Comedy Festival, and many more.
In 2020, Ed became the first comedian of Taiwanese-Canadian descent to release a full one hour comedy special titled “Candy & Smiley” with Comedy Dynamics, A Nacelle Company.
Ed's tweets have also been featured on "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon", Buzzfeed, The Huffington Post, DOSE, and Distractify. Ed is still currently on vacation with his potato-like dogs.

• Dan Duvall has performed at JFL Northwest, and across Canada, The USA and Europe. Also he is the cohost of The Hate Locker Podcast, is the subject of the documentary Funny Tweets on Crave TV and created, wrote and directed the animated short Giraffe Cops on Cartoon Network Canada. He does not currently have Covid 19.

≫ Land Acknowledgement ≪
We would like to gratefully acknowledge that the territory on which this event takes place is on the traditional, stolen, unceded land of the Lekwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples. We acknowledge the rich cultural history of the many peoples and rituals that have been affected by the ongoing process of dispossession and colonialism. We hold this understanding in our interactions and engagements with this land and its people.

≫ Accessibility ≪
Our seating is a combination of high tables, bar stools, and cocktail tables with chairs. If you require assistance with this, please contact us at [email protected] and VEC staff will do their best to accommodate.
There are three multi-user, gender-inclusive bathrooms with stalls. One bathroom has a larger stall with its own sink and a grab bar (more details in the ‘Bathrooms’ section).
The Victoria Event Centre currently does not have an operational elevator, and there is one long flight of stairs at the venue entrance. The only way into the VEC is up 27 wood stairs, 11″ deep, 6″ high. There are wooden 2.5” handrails 38” up the wall on each side of the staircase (54” apart, so not graspable on both sides at once). See further details in ‘Getting Inside’ section)
If you would like to attend the event but require assistance with accessing the space, please contact us at [email protected] and VEC staff will do their best to accommodate.
Inside the Victoria Event Centre there is a gender inclusive wheelchair accessible washroom that technically fits necessary size dimensions, but is missing a bar and a handrail beside the toilet. There are two stalls, in the washroom, but only one of these has been renovated to meet 5'x5' wheelchair clearance.
