Local artist Andrea Soos was looking at her pile of canvases that, for whatever reason, didn’t make it to the finish line. She talked it over with friends, and together they came up with a plan to compile a POTLUCK of artists to take all of those “failed paintings” and to take on the challenge of creating something new from something old.
This is a testament to the over abundance of camaraderie we all share to one another as artists in the city of victoria. This is not a competition. it’s a coming together to create new work and push boundaries.

Andrea Soos is well known for her playful abstractions that combine creative mark-making, patterning, and gestural application of colour. Working with a cheerful palette, Soos’ paintings allow the viewer to freely journey around the canvas, enjoying the twists and turns of her engaging compositions.

She has won many awards for both book illustration
and graphic design. She illustrates, designs and paints on a full
time basis out of her studio in Victoria BC.
Cowles earned a 3-year diploma in Illustration from
