Friday, June 14 from 7-10pm Open Space celebrates the opening of Neither One Nor the Other / Ni l'un ni l'autre, an exhibition presented in partnership with the National Film Board (NFB). Neither One Nor the Other is a collaborative multimedia installation by Anishnabek artist Dominic Lafontaine and Michif artist Jessie Short.
The installation seeks to find the paranormal in the everyday and render the invisible visible. Consisting of video cameras and projectors arranged to create a feedback loop that is projected against a silver Mylar screen, the work augments and amplifies the unseen energies that move around us. Mesmerizing and ethereal, the light of the feedback loop reflecting on the walls creates an immersive and otherworldly visual space that draws onlookers into its folds.
The artists will also be present for an artist talk Saturday, June 15 from 2-4pm. The exhibition runs June 15-July 13, Tues-Sat, 12-5pm.
