Event Description

Welcome to the Victoria Anarchist Reading Circle. This circle is hosted by members of the Victoria Anarchist Bookfair Collective. Our reading selections are determined collectively by members attending each meeting. Some topics we are interested in include Ecological Anarchism and Earth First! practices, Anarcho-Indigenism and Indigenous Sovereignty, Food Security and Sustainable Land Use, Prison Abolitionism, debates between Collectivist and Individualist tendencies, Prefigurative politics and Resistance, and so on. Authors whose work we may read include Emma Goldman, Peter Kropotkin, Gustave Landauer, and Murray Bookchin, as well as many contemporary writers (David Graeber, Cindy Milstein, Ann Hansen) on anarchist practices and ideas. Please note: if you take anarcho-capitalism seriously, you will be challenged by how much we laugh our butts off at the concept. As for everyone else, we are glad you are interested in contributing to developing anarchist culture. We meet every other week at Camas Books and Infoshop, 2620 Quadra Street, on unceded Lekwungen territory.

Visit us at victoriaanarchistreadingcircle.ca to see the latest updates and reading selections.
