9:30 DJ Throthbot
Hailing from the land down under Frothbot is known for running various underground club events throughout Australia with the likes of Audible Communication. His strong grounding in electronic music is the staple of what you’d expect from this Melbourne lad along with quirky Afro beats and the deeper vibes of techno & house.
10:30 Psychic Pollution
Psychic Pollution is the long time solo project of Victoria BC producer J. Schuurman. What started out as a noise improv project back in 1998 and has since progressed to a full on cosmic psych/synth/kraut/kosmiche/EDM project influenced by such great artists as Pye Corner Audio, Brian Eno, Giorgio Moroder, Kraftwerk, etc. Ambient layers complementing synth solo sections with Berlin school discreet rhythms make up the Psychic sound. Psychic has a strict no computer regime for live sets and sequences hardware analogue synths and drum machines to fill out his sonic palette.
11:30 The Passenger
Combines Armando’s optimistic bass rumbling, Orbital’s playful chimes, Wendy Carlos binary fairy-telling and the sort of acid riffs that Plastikman would have come up with if he had been commissioned to update Maurice Sendak’s bibliography, in collaboration with Paper Rad. Everything that those gifted whippersnappers need to grow strong and mischievous!
For the past two years, Mafred Lotz and Jason Camp have taken their artistic drive and their shared love for electronic music, and formed the West Coast Canadian Techno duo known as FNKSTLL /fəNG/ /stil/ /aH/. The artist name originates from the German word, “Funkstille”, which translates into “Radio Silence”. Their productions are dark and minimal using classic sounds like the TR-707, TB-303 and a range of Detroit Techno chords and samples. Their inspiration and style is generated through the cold grey winters that overtake Canada for more than 6 months out of the year, and the vastness of the Pacific Ocean that lays at their doorstep. With a fresh sound, and tight productions, their music has been featured in underground clubs around the world. With their exuberant drive, and passion for Techno, it is a sure thing that their tracks are pushing the boundaries of your expectations.
