This series of short films focus on five BC composers: Murray Adaskin, Barbara Pentland, Rudolf Komorous, Jean
Coulthard, and Elliot Weisgarber. Each has contributed something unique and remarkable to the nation’s cultural
mosaic through their body of work and the living legacy of students they inspired. Produced and directed by
award-winning filmmaker John Bolton — made possible by a grant from the BC Arts Council and support from the
Canadian Music Centre — the films each feature a performance of a signature work by the composer juxtaposed
against a storyline unique to that piece. Many UVic School of Music faculty and alumni can be seen and heard in
