Morning Musicale - The Bergmann Piano Duo and Onalea Gilbertson performing From Berlin to Hollywood
Vocalist, actress and writer, Onalea Gilbertson will join the Bergmanns to present a cross section of repertoire that emerged from the collaboration between the daring revolutionary German playwright and poet, Bertold Brecht and composers Kurt Weill, Hanns Eisler and Paul Dessau. Selections from the Three Penny Opera and other hits will be performed in this entertaining cabaret-style performance.
Morning Musicale is a favourite for classical music lovers offering onstage seating, pre-concert chats and a table of treats. Hosts Elizabeth and Marcel Bergmann feature world-class guest musicians delivering an intimate, personal musical experience.
About Onalea Gilbertson Onalea is a performer, playwright, composer and recording artist. As a multidisciplinary crossover performer she has worked in both the traditional and the avant-garde performing nationally and internationally with symphony orchestra, chamber ensemble, jazz and big band band and as an actor and singer in theatrical productions.
Recently she performed the role of Hecate Off Broadway in the hit show SLEEP NO MORE. Other select roles include: starring in MATA HARI IN 8 BULLETS (Rhymer/Brooker) at the New York Musical Theatre Festival (outstanding individual performance award); INTO THE WOODS (Cinderella); THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD (Drood); ASSASSINS (Squeaky Fromme); FALSETTOS (Cordelia) THE BALLAD OF WEEDY PEETSTRAW (Hazel/Caravan Theatre) and Bernstein's MASS with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra - Hans Graf conducting (Mezzo Soprano/Blues singer).
Onalea was a member of the acclaimed One Yellow Rabbit ensemble for 7 seasons creating many original characters, performing with them in song cycles such as DREAM MACHINE and IN KLEZSKAVANIA and starring as Sylvia Plath in SYLVIA PLATH MUST NOT DIE.
