Event Description
Join award-winning playwright/actor/director and Fringe Festival veteran TJ Dawe for this two day intensive workshop that will guide you through the process of how to turn your stories and ideas into a solo performance piece. All levels of experience welcome (ages 18 and up).
Always a Fringe Festival favourite, and also an experienced group facilitator, TJ Dawe has built a career writing, performing and directing solo shows internationally. This is an amazing opportunity to learn from a seasoned professional artist, and to finally get started on that performance piece you’ve been thinking about creating!
TJ Dawe is a Vancouver based writer, director, performer and dramaturg, mostly of one-person shows. He’s participated in the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival, the Edinburgh Fringe, the Adelaide Fringe, the Charleston Piccolo Spoleto Festival, the UNO Festival of Solo Performance (five times!!) and 106 fringe festivals. He co-created and directed Charlie Ross’ The One Man Star Wars Trilogy, which has been touring for fifteen years, including appearances on The Today Show and Late Night with Conan O’Brian. The two are now working on One Man Stranger Things. He has a number of published scripts. His show Medicine can be viewed on YouTube in its entirety. He teaches a course on creating solo shows at Langara College in Vancouver. He leads workshops on creativity and the personality types of the Enneagram. He can be seen rehearsing (also known as wandering around mumbling to himself) in Stanley Park. www.tjdawe.ca
