SUGAR COATED: Rachel Vanderzwet

Event Description

SUGAR COATED, a new body of work by Rachel Vanderzwet, is a collection of paintings and mediated collages that explore the allure, desires and excess behind contemporary visual culture while straddling the line between abstraction and recognition. Embracing imagery fraught with “bubble gum qualities,” quirk and humour the work is playful in its approach, offering up a visual smorgasbord for the viewer to unravel.


Rachel Vanderzwet has an MFA in Visual Arts from the University of Victoria as well as a BFA from University of Guelph and a Diploma in Graphic Design and Art Fundamentals from Niagara College. She has shown nationally in Toronto, Halifax, Guelph, Victoria and Vancouver and regularly exhibits with Robert Lynds Gallery in Vancouver.
