When you first see Nik West it’s hard not to stare at that eye-poppingly colourful Mohawk and be seduced by her sexy glamour. But when she grabs her electric bass and starts churning out delicious funk grooves, it’s obvious that it’s her outsized musical talent and endless energy that have made her one of the biggest up-and-comers on the R&B side of town. Called “the female Lenny Kravitz” by Dave Stewart of Eurythmics fame, Nik combines serious bass chops and highly expressive singing with outrageous onstage panache – not surprising considering she spent time as Prince’s protégé and bassist! She has already released two CDs, shared stages with John Mayer, Macy Gray, and George Clinton/Parliament Funkadelic, and has even dropped an impressive cover of AC/DC’s “Back in Black” that made her a favourite of Steven Tyler. If you’ve got a pulse you won’t want to miss this one! Hubie Wang (guitar), Clifton Williams (keyboards), Rjay Norwood (drums), Nichelle West (backing vocals), and Amber Sauer (backing vocals).
