Canadian indie folk-rock artist Joline Baylis brings her eloquent songwriting and superb band to the WISE Hall, to celebrate the release of her debut album, "Break Me Down." The evening will feature performances by dark folk powerhouse The Crackling, and mesmerizing intuitive improviser Vi An Diep.
Joline's meticulously crafted songs are fresh, haunting, and profoundly honest. For "Break Me Down," she has gathered some of Vancouver's finest musicians to create a lush sound that provides a firm foundation for the raw emotion and vulnerability of her songwriting. The album feels slightly nostalgic, with echoes of classic rock and laid-back country, yet the band plays with a chemistry and inventiveness that yields something altogether new.
Joining Joline at the WISE Hall will be:
Kenton Loewen (Dan Mangan and Blacksmith, Haram, Marin Patenaude)
Wynston Minckler (Emily Millard, Aerialists)
Paul Pigat (Cousin Harley, Neko Case)
Nick Peck (Filling in forTyson Naylor)

The Crackling embrace both calm and storm in Kenton Loewen's dark, warm song writing. Intimate and cutting. Romantic and bleak.
"Loewen is a timeless and spellbinding balladeer and one of Canada's most underrated talents." Absolutepunk.net

Vi An is spellbinding as she shares the Art of spontaneous compositions and intuitive improvisations on various Asian long zithers. Her music will transfix and transport you to another world.
