Where Captain Trevor Greene’s military mission ended, his friend Barb Stegemann's mission began. His world was the battlefront of hearts and minds in Afghanistan. Hers was the board rooms and the beauty counters of the world. This is the story of two remarkable Canadians who demonstrate the very best of what Canadians can do to bring social change to the world abroad.
Trevor and Barb's friendship started in high-school and lasted long after the graduation caps flew high. He left to serve in Canada's military until the tragic day a Taliban axe cut his service short. He lived but his road to recovery was set to be long and hard. Barb wanted to do something, anything to bring meaning to her friend's sacrifice.
Her idea was simple: turn Afghanistan's opium problem on its head by getting farmers to grow essential oils and scents rather than poppies. Quickly, it turned the growing game around, making farming not only profitable but ethical for Afghani farmers once again.
But neither Barb nor Trevor's story ends there. It went from the fields to the Dragon's Den, across the nation and continues on in new frontiers in Rawanda. This is their incredible story.
