Event Description
In order of appearance:
Marin Patenaude
Singer/songwriter/guitarist Marin Patenaude's absorbing sound is earthy, soulful, and heartbreakingly beautiful. Her pure voice ties together country, blues, and folk into something sublimely intangible. Her band features two Vancouver players who expertly blend nuance and fire in Cole Schmidt (guitar), and Peggy Lee (cello).

Handmade Blade
Handmade Blade is a small group with an exceptionally broad sonic palette. Longtime Vancouver creative music luminaries Peggy Lee (Waxwing, Veda Hille) cello and JP Carter (Fond of Tigers, Destroyer) trumpet, and NYC transplant Aram Bajakian (Lou Reed, John Zorn) guitar each contribute compositions and improvise with deep passion and an elegance bordering on the transcendent.

Thus Owls
The mesmerizing and dark velvet sounding Thus Owls is built around the core of Swedish-Canadian couple Erika and Simon Angell. Simon’s harshly charismatic guitar blends with the urgency of Erika’s vocals to create a sound that bends and stretches their unusual compositions into ever newer and surprising shapes.
