Event Description
Blanche Norton has been a friendly and familiar face in the Vancouver music scene for many decades. She has welcomed countless musicians and artists into her home and supported local and international acts for many, many years.
Now, it is our turn to support her!!
Over the last several years Blanche's health and mobility have deteriorated from the debilitating symptoms of MS. She recently had to vacate the small apartment she was in due to a bed bug and rat infestation. Unless someone came to carry her down the stairs Blanche was not able to leave her apartment.
Blanche has been waiting for social housing for over 10 years but has never received any help. She was temporary emergency housing for a few weeks but is currently back home waiting to be placed in accessible housing. A group of close friends set up a GoFundMe endeavour to help supplement costs of living/moving but Blanche needs (and deserves) all the help we can give her. We need to help her supplement the small disability income she receives, which cannot cover the cost of accommodation in the Lower Mainland, let alone other necessities of life.
This is your chance to support Blanche as well as the music scene that she has diligently fostered for so many years. On Thursday, December 22nd, 2016 LIVE at the WISE will proundly present an amazing line-up for artists performing in support of Blanche.
Doors at 7pm
7:30 - 8pm: Rodney DeCroo
8:15 -8:45pm: The Myrtle Family Band

A significant portion of the door will go directly to Blanche. Donations will be accepted throughout the night and there will be a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle to help raise as much money as possible. We're coming upon the season of giving and this is your opportunity to give back in a way that is relevant to our music community as well as the housing crisis this city has been plagued with for years.
Please come, give generously, and have an amazing time!
We're here to help artists and arts organizations reach their audiences and each other.
Non-profit run and created by the community, ArtsVictoria.ca integrates current event listings and multimedia arts portfolios, and creates an explorable, living archive of the arts in Victoria BC.
For physical events that happen at a specific time. For example a concert, or dance performance. If there are multiple shows, you can still duplicate your event to cover them all.
