Almost Seen: Street Level Art exhibit of work by local artist Alicia Marie Lawrence opens November 1 2016 at Street Level Espresso in Victoria and continues to November 30 2016.
Almost Seen is an exciting celebration of individuality through portraiture, capturing subject knowledge contained within subtle expressions, sudden gestures, and an ambient uncertainty in negotiations for agency.
Alicia Marie Lawrence's style is intuitive and urban, working in watercolour and ink. Her practice of reflective positioning explores the dynamic between artist, subject, and viewer. Her previous work has been described as, "anxious, incised ink line work and awash in rich tones ranging from earthy and autumnal to cavernous."
Street Level Espresso houses the creative work of renowned Victoria minimalist pop artist Gareth Gaudin, and is an unexpected haven of artistic engagement. With stacks of art books on the shelves and art stamped cups for great coffee, Alicia's work finds a savvy niche.
