DON'T MISS THIS EXCITING DOUBLE BILL FEATURING WINNIPEG ARTISTS SWEET ALIBI AND JADEA KELLY!!!
SWEET ALIBI:
“If Mumford & Sons and The Supremes had a love child, it would be named Sweet Alibi” – Tom Power, CBC
2014 Western Canadian Music Award Winners for Roots Group of the Year, Sweet Alibi ( Jess Rae Ayre, Amber Rose and Michelle Anderson) blend soulful and powerful vocal harmonies with the sincerity of folk and the foot stomping energy of roots. The appeal of their sound hinges on their ability to mix elements of folk, roots and country, then present it in the context of a tightly-structured pop song. The group has garnered national accolades, awards and major radio airplay, reaching #5 on CBC Radio 2's chart.
With 3 releases, over 360 shows across Canada, 33 plus festival performances, in numerous radio performances and interviews Sweet Alibi is fast becoming a well-known Roots/Pop group. Audiences continue to adore this Winnipeg group, as they relentlessly tour North America, gaining fans everywhere they go. - www.sweetalibi.com
Please note The Upstairs Lounge is a licensed all ages restaurant and bar, doors open at 6:00 pm for dinner service, the concert starts at 7:30 pm
JADEA KELLY:
" One of the shining jewels in the crown of Canadian songwriters. Her sound is pure Canadiana, elements of prairie country, big city soul, and the sense to take just a little bit of both. In short, the more Jadea Kelly Canada can hear – the better” - Tom Power CBC
With a lilting mix of Iris De Ment and Emmylou Harris--Jadea Kelly has released two albums, earning Best Country honors at the Toronto Independent Music Award and a nomination for 'Best New/Emerging Artist of the Year' at the Canadian Folk Music Awards.
Despite her grounding in roots music, Jadea is known widely for her vocal work with Canadian metal band Protest the Hero - who have featured her on Kezia 2005 and Scurillous 2011. Over the past three years, Jadea has completed two Cross-Canada Tours, two tours of Eastern Canada, a tour of Germany and the Netherlands, was featured on CBC Radio 2's Canada Live with her 2010 performance from the Stewart Park Folk Festival and completed an eight-month residency at the infamous Cameron House in Toronto. - www.darthjadea.com
