Event Description

A 6-year tradition, this colourful, annual performance displays the most enticing Chinese artistic cultural elements, dancing, singing and music. Ocean Rain Academy reached a new milestone early this year – establishing Vancouver Island’s very first bilingual children’s choir which will proudly perform both English and Chinese songs at the Spectacular.

We’re also excited that Uudam – the famous, young Chinese singer – will be performing with Ocean Rain’s new Children’s Choir. Uudam is best known for his moving 2011 performance on China's Got Talent. Sharing his love for his absent mother – who died in a road accident when he was only eight years old – Udam sang the folk song, Mother in the Dream. Even though most could not understand the Mongolian lyrics, Uudam's poignant musical genius touched all the judges and every member of the audience. (Two years later, Uudam became an orphan when his father also died in an accident. In addition to his relatives, the choir directors – who are his godparents – share in Uudam’s upbringing.) Uudam will also be singing solo at Ocean Rain Spectacular.

As an active community supporter, Ocean Rain Arts Academy will generously donate all the net proceeds to BC Children’s Hospital Foundation to help vulnerable children. We are proud that this annual performance has become an opportunity for all our students to present their artistic talents while providing a platform for the academy to give back to the community.

We look forward to sharing this rich and diverse performance with you on Saturday, November 19th!
