Event Description
The City of Colwood and Coast Collective Art Centre invite you to paint en plein air on September 18th in the inaugural “Paint-in at the Fort” at Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic sites. $400 in cash prizes will be available for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place, in addition to a Viewer's Choice prize.
The event’s location is a true painter’s paradise, with exceptional views of Mount Baker and the Olympic Mountains to the south, and the oldest lighthouse on Canada’s west coast. Then there’s the original 19th century buildings of the historic military fortress, complete with secret bunkers! On the nature-lover’s side, there’s a restored Garry Oak meadow, as well as a generous assortment of wildlife.
To add to the richness of the day’s scenery, the Colwood Seaside Festival will include horse drawn carriage rides, live entertainment, and historic costumes. Whether you enjoy painting landscapes, seascapes, architecture or people, there will be something for you when you join us for the Paint-in at the Fort!
