In the same way that Death Cab For Cutie, Kurt Cobain and The Head and The Heart spent youthfull winters in the dreary pines of the Northwest, Nanaimos MAVERICK CINEMA is a quartet of suburban grown Northwest youths both celebrating and trying to find their way out of homes vice.
Their debut EP Sanctuary, is out May 13th on iTunes, Spotify and through their website.
Mixed by Juno Award Winning producer Colin Stewart (Dan Mangan, New Pornographers) and produced by Mike Edel, Sanctuary lands heavy with pounding drums yet emotional lyrics and melodic and vibey ambience. MAVERICK CINEMA seems beyond their age on the track Old Oaks And Pine Trees that features lead singer Marshal Dillaboughs soaring falsetto - one of the bands unmistakable sounds. And it is a unique collaboration, reminiscent of City and Colour, the way gritty and heavy hit drums lay the foundation for the memorable melodies, keyboard and guitar riffs of MAVERICK CINEMA. The band has laid a firm foundation among the windy pines of Vancouver Island, playing with almost every band in their hometown of Nanaimo and successfully funding their EP through IndieGoGo.

Lusitania Lights:
Born out of the Edmonton music scene, Lusitania Lights is a delicately organized conglomerate of common musical interests. Through their first year of playing together they have created a unique sound, blending alternative rock and pop rock into a live set that they have continued to develop. As four multi-instrumentalists, Lusitania Lights stretches their writing influences wide, gathering their prowess and incorporating revered sounds of their musical idols. The four fine young men look to increase their already dedicated following.
