Unfortunately, The Sweet Lowdown have been forced to cancel their show on this date for health reasons. Fortunately, The Garrett Tompson Band has stepped in to fill the gap.
Garrett has been an active member of the Victoria bluegrass scene for many years, playing with several bands and guesting with a few more. In 2009, he was the recipient of the VBA bursary to the BC Bluegrass Workshop. He is a fine picker and a terrific singer, and it is a pleasure to have this talented musician appear on the VBA stage as the leader of his own band.
The Garrett Tompson Band is a five-member bluegrass unit from Victoria, inspired by the early J.D. Crowe and the New South. They play straight-up bluegrass, while adding material and ideas from other genres, but always keeping a bluegrass drive and harmonies. All five members have been marinated in bluegrass - the drive and groove take care of themselves.
