Our project

Our vision inspires us to think differently about wealth—to re-envision prosperity as something we can only achieve if we’re surrounded by and connected to a vibrant and diverse community. Our values-based banking model is grounded in the local economy because we believe you only truly prosper when you’re connected to a healthy community.

We’re remodeling our Langford community branch to better reflect the way we do business. This branch remodel project includes an art call designed to engage the local art community as an integral part of our member’s branch experience. Through this art call, Vancity will select one artist or artist team to create one art commission.

Call to artists in the Capital Regional District

Vancity is now accepting applications of expressions of interest (EOI) from artists or artist teams who live or work in the Capital Regional District to design and integrate a site-specific art commission.

We’re seeking applications for artwork that reflect and interpret, in a celebratory way, the rich and diverse culture of the local community. Content / themes must align to Vancity’s vision and values, and can be social, economic, historical, environmental or a combination. Preference will be given to submissions that aim to incorporate up-cycled, recycled, sustainably sourced, salvaged, found and/or other natural media.

Artist information sessions

Four artist information sessions will be hosted at the Vancity Langford community branch (Branch 69) located at 100-800 Kelly Road Victoria BC V9B 5T6.

Wednesday, March 9, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm (two sessions, 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm)

Saturday, March 12, 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm (two sessions, 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm)

These sessions will provide an opportunity for interested artists and artist teams to learn about Vancity, the Langford community branch location and community, and the proposed art commission for the branch. Light refreshments will be provided.

Artists must RSVP to attend any of these sessions. To RSVP, or for more information, please email: [email protected]. Please identify which day and time you would like to attend.

The selected artist or artist team will be awarded $7,000 as well as a supplemental materials budget.

The call for OEI submissions will stay open for mailed submissions until Wednesday, April 6, 2016 and until 11:59 pm on Monday, April 11, 2016 for digital submissions.

For physical events that happen at a specific time. For example a concert, or dance performance. If there are multiple shows, you can still duplicate your event to cover them all.
