Event Description

The 300-voice Gettin’ Higher Choir presents two benefit concerts for Mozambique with Special Guest, award-winning entertainer Rick Scott.
Rick Scott is a singer, songwriter, storyteller and actor who first rose to fame in the early ‘70s as a member of the legendary folk trio, Pied Pumpkin, along with Shari Ulrich and Joe Mock. The group had a fervent cult following as a result of their highly spirited music, filling dance floors and playing countless music festivals across the country for more than four decades. Rick has released 18 albums for both children and adults, performed more than 1,000 shows in schools, festivals and concert halls across North America and in Australia and Southeast Asia.
His four-CD Musical Audio Novel, The Great Gazzoon, was named Best Book for Kids & Teens in 2013 by the Canadian Children’s Book Centre, and the same year he won “Best Children’s Recording” at the Western Canadian Music Awards.
The concerts will take place on June 12 and 13, 2015, at 7:30 p.m. at the Alix Goolden Hall, 907 Pandora Street. Tickets are $25; $20 for seniors and students. Tickets can be purchased at Munro’s Books, Ivy’s Books, James Bay Coffee and Books, Dig This (Broadmead), from any choir member or on-line at gettinhigherchoir.ca.
