Event Description

. Friday, June 26th IMU presents The JAMIES, CHINA SYNDROME, ON THE RUN & BUBBLE11 @ The Railway Club, 579 Dunsmuir . Show 9:30pm / $10 cover

The JAMIES are a Calgary-based new wave indie pop band showcasing dual keyboards, driving drums and bass, and passionate female vocals that range from powerful and energetic to evocative and contemplative. Landing Top 10 college radio play across Canada with their 2013 debut, their new album Time features experimentation with bold sounds and structures to build cohesive layers of modern synth pop and new wave nostalgia. http://www.facebook.com/TheJamies

CHINA SYNDROME is a melodic rock band from Vancouver who combine driving pop hooks in the vein of XTC and Teenage Fanclub with liberal dollops of classic rock influences augmented by angular funk grooves, psychedelia and other aural surprises. Their new album "The Usual Angst" was recorded and produced at Vancouver's JC/DC Studios by David Carswell (New Pornographers, Tegan and Sara) and praised by The Georgia Straight as "infectiously jangly" with "fantastic, hooky guitar". http://www.facebook.com/chinasyndromeband

BUBBLE11 - Shipwrecked space travellers crashed out in the bubble of the western world, Bubble11 transmits opaline sounds into eleven-dimensional hyperspace via electrically-generated, loud, cordant/discordant instruments and nostalgia for a lost future of wide iridescent skies, jet packs, and whirling silver saucers hovering over transparent domed cities. Resultant phenomena largely feature synthetic transportation songs from the punk pop universe fused by a dream of alien love and universal peace. http://www.facebook.com/bubble11band
