Koerner Quartet welcomes the warmer months while celebrating two young string virtuosos in their final concert of the season - Summer Serenade - on June 7 at 7pm in the Koerner Recital Hall (1270 Chestnut Street). The captivating program begins with Puccini’s rare and haunting Chrysanthemums and progresses to Janáček’s Quartet No. 1 Kreutzer Sonata - a passionate work marrying the distinct styles of Moravian folk with arthaus music. In its gorgeous finale, the quartet welcomes Vancouver Academy Rising Stars Esther Hwang (violin) and Trisha Doo (cello) to the stage to perform Tchaikovsky’s breezy, exhilarating sextet, Souvenir de Florence.
