Lately there is a buzz of excitement surrounding the critically acclaimed Canadian cellist Ariel Barnes. The fact that the Canada Council awarded him with the use of their finest cello is proof of his position as one of our country’s top instrumentalists. Known internationally as a mesmerizing soloist and chamber musician, he was recently appointed Principal Cellist of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. Ariel will be joined by pianist Chiharu Iinuma and violinist David Gillham, violin professor in the UBC School of Music.
