Event Description

Lately there is a buzz of excitement surrounding the critically acclaimed Canadian cellist Ariel Barnes. The fact that the Canada Council awarded him with the use of their finest cello is proof of his position as one of our country’s top instrumentalists. Known internationally as a mesmerizing soloist and chamber musician, he was recently appointed Principal Cellist of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. On June 27 (Muse Winery) and 28 (First Unitarian Church of Victoria) Ariel will be joined by pianist Chiharu Iinuma and violinist David Gillham, violin professor in the UBC School of Music.

The trio will perform Tchaikovsky’s luscious A minor Piano Trio, and Stravinsky’s Suite Italienne for cello and piano.
