Event Description

A double-bill of Vancouver's finest, most danceable bands, Raised on DJs and The Top Drawers, with very special guests, Stocatta from Winnipeg.

RAISED ON DJs: RAISED ON DJs was realized in 2013 when vocalist Kevin Gau (former singer of THE LEFT) and producer Sean McKay (SPM) connected on a cosmic musical journey. Together with a group of friends an inspired sound developed, endearing to the glory days of synth-based eighties new wave. The wide range of influences include Naked Eyes, Psychedelic Furs, The Eurythmics and Depeche Mode with contemporary comparisons to Stars, Postal Service, Daft Punk LCD Sound System and MGMT. www.raisedondjs.com

THE TOP DRAWERS: Everybody knows that the top drawer is where all the best secrets are kept. Perhaps twelve of Vancouver’s best secrets are the songs contained on The Top Drawers’ debut album, “You’re So Fine”. Richly steeped in 1960s Brit-rock flavour, The Top Drawers are intent on reviving the joy, the energy, and the fun of rock ‘n’ roll. All twelve songs were recorded, mixed, and mastered in a mere seven days. As a result, the band has managed to capture all of the chemistry and the intensity of their live show on a studio recording. www.thetopdrawers.ca

STOCATTA: Stocatta is a Canadian indie music duo consisting of multi instrumentalists Laura Artus and Jay Smith. They have used their combined talents and passionately created an ensemble dedicated to transmitting sonification to your senses. Bridging the gap between hopefulness and melancholy, the audience is engaged through a unique head-space with rhythmic passages, satisfying melodies, and thoughtful lyrics. The intention is the listener will genuinely part with the intensity Stocattas message of purpose delivers. www.stocatta.com
