Event Description

Amsterdam based composer/flautist and electronics musician Anne la Berge and Montreal composer/clarinetist Lori Freedman will collaborate with Mind of a Snail, Vancouver’s shadow compost modern shadow puppetry duo and Orkestra Futura to create an event of beauty and intricacy.

There will be the sound of searching, singing bugs, a compositional expression of Canadian feminist history and unique instrumental pairings in a journey of collage, contrast and juxtaposition. The raw, energetic improvisational force of Orkestra Futura will fill the sublime Pyatt Hall. Mind of a Snail projections will move with and in contrast to the music, intermingling the stunning visual and aural aspects of the sensory experience. And... there will be chocolate!! Miller is working with Master Proprietor Greg Hook from Chocolate Arts, who is creating chocolates designed especially to be paired with Miller's new composition.

The NOW Society is excited to share the Modality project with young students and emerging improvisers. There will be three interactive Modality workshops: for Vancouver's Laura Secord Elementary school, Burnaby Mountain Secondary School and for the general public.
