Event Description

"Master Class: Regie Cabico" :: 12:00 - 2:00 PM :: $25 (limited availability)

A master class with former National Poetry Slam champion Regie Cabico. A master of both poetry and performance, this workshop is guaranteed to blow your mind while improving your skillset.

"Coaching the Slam" :: 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM :: Free

As more and more poetry slam tournaments continue to pop up across the country, poets and slam teams have increasingly enlisted the services of a coach to provide critical feedback and an outside perspective on their work. Often the feedback that guides a poet towards success in the poetry slam is the same as that which helps a poet improve their technical abilities as a writer and a performer. This panel will feature veteran performers sharing perspectives on giving constructive criticism that helps poets grow as artists - and find success with the judges.

"The Youth is On Fire!" :: 4:00 - 6:00 PM :: $10 (regular) $5 (student)

Next generation? Up and coming? Emerging talent? The poets in this showcase will demonstrate these terms are verging on insult when applied to the incredible profusion of young poets taking the stage at poetry slams across the country. Organized and sponsored by Victoria's Youth Poet Laureate, Morgan Purvis, this showcase proves that the youth aren't emerging - they've emerged.

FESTIVAL PASSES: $75 (regular) $45 (student) :: visit www.CFSW.ca to purchase.
