Event Description
Denman Island is about to be invaded by the Flying Accusations this Saturday night.
The Flying Accusations are one heapin' helpin' of full on acoustic music and energy. A combination of Roots, backwoods, newgrass and original tunes, these guys will appeal to the most discriminating Hillbilly.
The band was formed in 2004 from former members of the 'Backwoods Boys' and Victoria based 'Special Blend.'
In less than a year they have risen to feature act status at several Folk clubs and music festivals, along with being featured at the famous Moss street market paint-in in Victoria. The band also hosts their own open mic at the dancing Bean Cafe, in Chemainus, the first Saturday of each month.
Their comfortable mayhem on stage is a big part of the show. You never know what these guys will do next.
Robert McCourty on Guitar and Harmonica strums out the rhythm and belts out the tunes, while Brian Fraser's mandolin tastefully fills in the gaps. Philip Holmes picks a pretty mean banjo as Lawrence Lucier lays down the Bass groove and doubles with some excellent slide and lead guitar work. If you like the music of Steve Earle, Fred Eaglesmith, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band or John Prine, you're practically a Flying Accusation already. Git ready to start yer toes atappin', knees aslappin' and hands aclappin! YeeHa! The Accusations are acomin' our way! Start off 2005 with a great night of music and laughter. Don't miss it.
P.S. Anyone who's partied with these guys at Vancouver Island MusicFest in Courtenay the past few years, knows what I'm talking about. These guys "always" have the best Jamming tent!!
