Canadian legend, alto saxophonist PJ PERRY will make an appearance with his all-star quartet featuring Vancouver's own Renee Rosnes - piano, Neil Swainson - bass and Terry Clarke on drums.

PJ PERRY http://www.pjperry.com/ has done it all. He has shared the spotlight with Michel LeGrand and Dizzy Gillespie. As lead saxophonist on the highly successful 1980s TV series In Concert, PJ played for such luminaries as Ray Charles, Henry Mancini, Aretha Franklin, and Tom Jones. Recently, Mr. Perry was a featured soloist on the hit 2010 Broadway production of Come Fly Away, highlighting the songs of Frank Sinatra and the choreography of Twyla Tharpe. In recognition of his contributions to Canada’s cultural fabric, PJ Perry has been awarded many honors, most notably an Honorary Doctorate of Law from the University of Alberta and an Honorary Diploma in Music from Alberta’s Grant McEwan College.

RENEE ROSNES http://www.reneerosnes.com/ is one of the premier pianists and composers of her generation. Shortly after relocating from Vancouver to New York in 1986, Rosnes quickly established a reputation as a major talent. She has recorded and toured with a veritable "who's who" of jazz, being the pianist of choice for such legendary musicians as Joe Henderson, Wayne Shorter, JJ Johnson, Buster Williams and Bobby Hutcherson.

NEIL SWAINSON began working with Paul Horn in 1975, and played in his band for two years. Neil also backed up such musicians as Barney Kessel, Herb Ellis, and Sonny Stitt. In 1977, Neil moved to Toronto, which has become his home. He became very active in the local jazz scene, playing with such artists as Moe Koffman, Ed Bickert, Rob McConnell, and Peter Appleyard. He has also played with many visiting jazz artists, to name a few: James Moody, George Coleman, Jay McShann, Tommy Flanagan, Lee Konitz, Joe Farrell, Slide Hampton, and Woody Shaw. Neil travelled and recorded with Woody Shaw, and Neil’s own recording, 49th Parallell (Concord Jazz 4396), features Woody Shaw on trumpet, and Joe Henderson on saxophone. In 1986 Neil began working with George Shearing. Together, they worked worldwide with many other great artists, such as Mel Tormé, Joe Williams, Nancy Wilson, Robert Farnon, and Diana Krall.

TERRY CLARKE'S natural rhythmic aptitude was obvious from an early age, and at the age of twelve, he began studying formally with the noted drum teacher and author Jim Blackley who was to remain a primary and ongoing figure in Terry's development as a musician. In 1965, Terry moved to San Francisco to work with John Handy III. He performed with him for the next two and a half years, during which time the Grammy nominated recording, Live at Monterey Jazz Fest (Columbia, 1966) was made. Following the John Handy experience, Terry began building his reputation for versatility by joining the world-famous pop vocal group, The Fifth Dimension. At the time, they were at the height of their popularity, and Terry traveled and performed extensively with them throughout the U.S.A., Canada and Europe. Terry left The Fifth Dimension in 1970, and re-located to Toronto. Terry Clarke is well-known as a founding member of the world acclaimed big-band, Rob McConnell's Boss Brass. For twenty-five years he recorded and toured with the band, helping to define it's remarkable sound. In 1985, Terry made a bold move to New York to pursue an exclusively jazz career. During his stint there, he worked with The Toshiko Akiyoshi Jazz Orchestra, The Joe Roccisano Jazz Orchestra, Jim Hall, Jay Leonhart, Helen Merrill, Marvin Stamm, Bob Mintzer, and Mark Murphy (among others). Terry Clarke has also been recently named as a Member of the prestigious Order of Canada.
