Event Description
Canadian singer/songwriter Tatiana Speed grew up to the sounds of her mother's piano compositions and the lofty inventions of her father's flying cameras. Beginning with training in classical music, Tatiana spent her early years singing in choirs, studying classical piano and violin and touring with a semi-professional Celtic ensemble. On entering university Tatiana opened herself up to a wide variety of musical influences and began an all-encompassing study of the rhythms and melodies of the world's oldest cultures. However, it wasn't until she moved to Paris for a year that Tatiana really began honing her skills as a performer and entertainer. She soon became involved in the Parisian music scene and started playing various venues and squat gigs around town.
Now a multi-instrumentalist in piano, guitar, hand percussion, vocals and violin, Tatiana's style has emerged as a unique blend of rhythm and funk with soulful overtones of folk and R&B.
Newly emerged from the studio with her debut album 'Sweet Emptiness", she is poised to launch on February 13th with her CD release party at the Fanclub Vancouver!
Currently, Tatiana is pursuing her second Bachelor of Arts Degree, this time, in Vocal Jazz. She received her first BA in Political Science and Ethnomusicology from the University of British Columbia and also participated in a year exchange program to Sciences Po, Paris.
